Cmake windows specify c compiler11/21/2023 ![]() This is possible because we have the Terminal application integrated into the context menu. In our system, we can simply right-click on the explorer window and open the Terminal application there. Now open the command prompt from the root directory of your project. You can go ahead with this step if you have already set up MinGW in your system and it is available in the Path variable. Having a dedicated build folder for your project is always a good idea. ![]() This will contain all the files generated by the build system. Go ahead and create a folder called build. We will now have three files in the root directory of our project. Now we need to copy and paste the file called pico_sdk_import.cmake from the pico-sdk\external folder to the root of your project folder. If you need more or a specific SDK feature, you must specify it this way. This brings in the standard library available in the SDK so that you can use the basic functionalities like GPIO. If you think there is a better way of doing the same or we made a mistake somewhere, please let us know. So will be sharing our experience working with the official C/C++ SDK for Raspberry Pi Pico. We are on a Windows system and we had to figure out a few things on our own to get things working. So if you are on a Linux system or even a Raspberry Pi board running Linux, you can simply follow the official tutorial to learn how to work with the SDK. This is because the official tutorials released by Raspberry Pi use a Linux environment for building and debugging. This tutorial is going to be specific to the Windows operating system. You will be able to build the projects with different configurations and should be able to make use of the complete features of the VS Code IDE. ![]() In this post, we will give you a detailed walkthrough of creating a standalone C/C++ project anywhere on your Windows system. If you have followed that tutorial correctly, you should now be able to compile any of the example programs provided by Raspberry Pi (pico-examples) or use the Arduino IDE to create projects.
