Best alarm clock for kids11/24/2023 Of all the sunrise alarms I tested, this was the best at evenly lighting up a dark room. They recharge on a pad the size of a coaster. You can pair several together, and they'll sync so you can have one in the living room and another in the bedroom, which will ease your whole apartment into a sunset as you near bedtime. It has only one shade of light, and while you can adjust the brightness, you can't make it warmer (yellower) or cooler (bluer). Everything else, like setting wake-up schedules and adjusting the length of the sunsets and sunrises in 15-minute increments (up to 90 minutes), is controlled through the app. There's a button on top to pause and unpause it, and when it's sitting on the charging pad, just turn it to adjust the brightness. To start the sunset program before bed, just flip the alarm over. You've got to hand it to Casper for intuitive design. Perhaps it's worth it if you have a particularly large bedroom and want the extra light for reading as you settle into bed. This would be my top pick if it wasn't so expensive It's five times the price of the Homelabs, but it's not five times the alarm. The clock display and touch controls are a cut above the cheaper alarms. The more upscale Philips SmartSleep model (below) barely beats it out in the quality of light, but the HF3520 has the second-nicest light quality in this roundup. Light is beautifully diffused, which keeps the rays from being blinding-that's especially nice in a dark room when your pupils are enlarged and particularly susceptible to harsh light. The lens is convex, and some light shines through the back of the casing, so it casts light in more directions than other headlight-shaped sunrise clocks I reviewed, like the Homelabs and Totobay. It has the usual features, such as an audible alarm, five natural wake-up sounds, and an FM radio. The Philips HF3520 oozes build quality and is easily the nicest alarm in this guide. It reminded me of my college job at a hot rod shop, lugging around headlights from old 1950s Mercurys and Chevys. Why is this so heavy? And big? Those were my first thoughts when I took Philips' alarm out of the box. It's a steal at $40, especially with the extras like multicolor mood lighting, access to an FM radio, and a center Snooze button that's easy to hit. I'll never understand why more alarms don't offer it. For people like me, who have always hated seeing glowing numbers in an otherwise dark room, the latter is a great option. It's still plenty bright to help wake you up, though. The light is also not as diffused as the higher-end alarms on this list-certainly enough to read by before bed, but not quite as able to bathe the whole room in light. It did a good job of casting enough light when it was the only lamp in my otherwise dark bedroom, but it's a bit on the small side, and because of its headlamp-like shape it shines most in a particular direction. There are nature sounds, like birds and ocean waves, to help you wake up too. The artificial sunrise was enough to rouse me out of bed, but it wasn't too bright. It's simple to use, and the light on the sunset setting was warm and relaxing. A solid metal stand and touch-sensitive buttons for $40!? Hell yes. Yanking it out of the box, the build quality of this thing smacked me right upside the head. Updated October 2023: We've added the Lexon Mina and the WiiM Wake-Up Light, as well as updated pricing and availability. These are my favorites.Ĭheck out our many other sleep-related buying guides, such as the Best Mattresses, the Best Weighted Blankets, and the Best Sound Machines, all of which could help you get a better night's sleep. I've tested the best sunrise alarm clocks, and a few of the worst. Sunrise alarms simulate gradual sunsets at night and gradual sunrises in the morning to help you fall asleep and wake up more naturally by tricking your biological hardware. And if you're like most of us, you need more sleep. Waking up to a sunrise alarm is, by stark contrast, downright pleasant. And don't get me started about how, when I was a kid, my dad would wake me up for school by thrusting the window curtains open as if he were opening the Ark of the Covenant right in my face. Friends notice me wince every time I'm watching a movie and a character's alarm blares them awake with all of the subtlety and gentleness of an aircraft carrier slamming into the sun. Alarms clocks and I have a damaged relationship.

For example, if you have a PDF that’s larger than 50MB, you might not be able to upload it to certain websites. Since PDFs can get pretty heavy in size, you might face limitations with sharing them. PDFs, on the other hand, can get quite large, especially if there are many images inside. However, DOC files are usually pretty small when it comes to file size because they pull information from the system on which they are opened, such as installed fonts, for example. In fact, it will also look the same on your smartphone or even your TV. This means you can create a PDF on a macOS computer and it will look exactly the same on a Windows computer. This makes them very versatile because they look the same across various systems. However, unlike DOC files, PDF files are more like a snapshot of an existing document. Cooking port wine11/24/2023 Porto is a beautiful city to explore and visitors are welcome at many of the lodges for tastings and tours, which I highly recommend. Adding the spirit also increases the alcohol content of Port wine which is usually in the 18-20% ABV range, whereas non-fortified red wines are typically 12 to 15%.Īfter fermentation, most producers transfer their Port wine to their cellars (known as lodges) in the city of Porto, a three or four hours drive away and closer to the sea, where the humidity is ideal for aging the wines. During fermentation, a clear grape spirit (usually brandy) is added, which stops the fermenting process, thereby preserving many of the grapes’ natural sugars and giving Port its signature sweetness. Unlike traditional still wine that is fermented dry, Port is fortified. But don’t worry, you won’t be tested on these names!įrom Grapes to Port: The Fortification Process White Port, on the other hand, comes from obscure white wine grapes like Códega, Gouveio, and Malvasia Fina. Port is always a blend of different native grape varieties, and there are dozens of them, most of which you probably haven’t heard of, with the most common being red: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinat Barroca, Tinto Cão, and Tinta Roriz (aka Tempranillo). Douro also has the distinction of being the world’s first officially demarcated wine region, created in 1756, the only place in the world that can produce authentic Port. To be called Port, the grapes must be grown in the Upper Douro region of northern Portugal, the most mountainous wine region in the world and a Unesco World Heritage Site. In very basic terms, Port can be divided into three categories: ruby, which matures mostly in the bottle and is named for its dark purplish ruby red color, tawny which ages in wooden barrels and has a tawny brownish color, and white, made in both aged and unaged versions, and like white wine, is pale or golden yellow in color. I’ve tried mashed cauliflower and polenta, but I just don’t think they are as good as the classic ole’ mash.Port is one of the world’s greatest fortified sweet wines, yet getting a handle on its many styles and knowing which type to buy can be difficult. I really love serving my Port Braised Lamb Shanks with creamy mashed potato. They taste fantastic on the day, but even better the day after – and the day after! When I’m entertaining, slow cooked foods like this are my “go to” because they’re impressive and can be made ahead. I made this in my dutch oven, but you can make it in a slow cooker or even in the oven and I’ve provided instructions for all in the recipe. The meat is so soft, you just need a fork. There is no need to provide a knife when you serve this. Lamb shanks are a tough cut of meat that require slow cooking to turn them into molten goodness. The cheaper and tougher the cut, the more flavourful. The meat is juicier and I’m 100% convinced it’s more flavourful too! Lamb Shanks is one of my favourite slow cooking cuts. Cooking meat on the bone is always the best way to slow cook meats, like with slow cooked Beef Short Ribs and Osso Bucco. These Port Braised Lamb Shanks taste so expensive, you can tell your guests you used a vintage 1980’s port and they would believe you! □Įven with the simplest of ingredients, slow cooking does wonders and I truly believe this to be an epic example of such. It is the same with my Italian Beef Ragu and Irish Beef Stew.Īnd this Port Braised Lamb Shanks is right up there with them. But the difference is not worth $40, I promise you that. I won’t deny that using a $50 vs $10 bottle of port makes a difference. Not simmered for 3 hours.Īnd I guarantee, if the poshest of restaurant critics did a taste test of these Port Braised Lamb Shanks with an expensive vs discount bottle of port, they would struggle to tell the difference! (And the New York Times agrees….) And if I buy expensive wine, I want to drink it straight. And the other is recipes that demand that expensive wine be used for cooking, otherwise, don’t bother. One is pretty photos for recipes that taste blah. I think I’m a pretty relaxed cook but regular readers know I have a few gripes. Budget ingredients to make posh restaurant food! It always amazes me how dishes like these slow cooked Port Braised Lamb Shanks served up by fancy restaurants are actually made with a handful of everyday ingredients!Īlong with the classic Slow Cooked Lamb Shanks in Red Wine Sauce, there’s nothing tricky about this recipe.

Relax inn motel number11/23/2023 Rm 102.We called the police and they agreed she either needs to give us full refund or let us finish out stay. She also tried to trick me to leave room so she can deactivate key card but luckily because the air conditioner was not working i left window open and was able to get in. After that she was trying to get us to leave with only 50 dollars saying we never notified anyone about the dog. Which my dog was still there and scared her. When I walked out of the room I saw the woman staring at us in the window I had a feeling that something was gonna happen and for sure she just takes it upon herself to go in our room. Around 4am my fiance and I had went to smoke a cigarette in the truck. When we checked in showed the receptionist the service animal card and everything was fine. I am a military veteran and I have a service dog who is ADA certified. Had stayed there Friday night and had got there around 12. We aren't looking to spend over $100 a night on a hotel room we're using just to sleep and shower in, it's a deal. And the first night they didn't clean our room. I know any hotel can be questionable- but the porn & notches & no telephone in the room does raise concerns. That leads me to the head board, which had actual notches carved in it. MAJOR PROBLEM- I'm just glad I didn't let my 6 year old son grab the remote first. We were in the room to sleep and shower, so I didn't bother telling the front desk. The TV only displayed 1 channel which was fuzzy porn. Only 2 towels, no hand towel, no floor mat. The drawers of the night stands smelled like marijuana, and it appeared as though there were leaves left in there. The room was essentially clean- the bathroom was fine- that's my big point. Most other spots were charging that much for 1 night! So this was a plus. Considering it was a Holiday weekend in the Hamptons, I was happy with the price of $306 for 3 nights. With the LT25, Fender has used its platform as innovators to build an amp that wants you to join the innovation. You can purchase from Gear4music with complete confidence and peace of mind. And hey, you can always mic it up onstage if you land a bigger gig before you land a bigger amp. If you need an amp capable of inspiring you at home, in the jam room or for small gigs, this amp is well-equipped to push you towards new ideas, new sounds and new songs. But there are bigger amps in the series if that’s what you’re after. Would more volume capability be nice? Well, yeah. Dial in a flat sound and hit it with some compression, and you’ll have a tone that would be flexible and reliable enough for an entire set’s worth of cover songs right there. The first thing you’ll notice when you plug the LT25 in is that there’s a really usable ‘flat and dry’ sound that lets your bass’ own natural voice do the talking, but which also serves as the perfect platform for effects (either the amp’s built-in ones or external pedals). Or do what Fender really hopes you’ll do, and accidentally stumble onto a new use for the effect which will go on to inspire the next generation of bass players and make you rich and famous. Combine it with some spring reverb for a David Lynch kind of feel, cover it in distortion for a post-rock fuzzed-out throb, or use it to add a slow subtle sense of movement to long, sustained notes in a ballad bassline. The classic Fender tremolo sound in particular is really well-represented here, and after over half a century of that sound being used as maybe an afterthought in bass processors while guitarists and electric piano players get to have all the fun, it really feels like it’s being given the care and attention it deserves in the bass sphere. Sounds that we often associate more with guitarists, but which can really help bassists to carve out their own special place in the world. What’s that, you say? Other stuff? Why yes: the Rumble LT25 is designed not just to offer classic standard bass tones, but also sounds that are intentionally more unique and creative – the idea being that Fender wants to push bass players to be inspired to explore new sounds and styles. There are weird Leslie rotating speaker tones, fat distortions, tremolo. A bigger speaker might have given the amp more volume, but at the cost of the sonic fine-points of some of the other stuff the amp is designed to do. That eight-inch driver is not a huge speaker for a bass amp, but the solid cabinet construction really helps to maximise the sound, focus the low-end through the bass port and give you lots of detail in the middle and high frequencies through the driver. (Image credit: Fender) Let's get ready to.īut if that was all the Rumble LT25 was about, then there wouldn’t really be any need for all those other sounds, right? So you’ll find edgier, rougher sounding rock basses, fat distortions, presets optimised for slap-and-pop techniques, deep dubby sounds, ratty fuzzes and more.

Does wet and wild close for rain phoenix11/23/2023 Oh, and none of the waterfalls and splash elements were on in the river. New rule at the lazy river, you don’t need a tube to float around!?! That’s because there were only about 30 tubes for the hundred + people trying to float. Only one of the two slides was running, then they both went down, but the staff didn’t say anything, they just let us stand there, but we got out of line and went to cool off in the lazy river. Waited 40 minutes for a tube to ride the jet slide, don’t know the name. A refillable drink cup $24!!! Ok, yeah the prices are high. I thought that Six Flags buying the water park was supposed to be an upgrade to Wet n Wild, which has never been great but was at least fun for the most part. and I took the kids today and it was terrible. /r/phxmusic - Local music scene and calendarsĬover image courtesy /u/User9113, sidebar and footer via ggfergu./r/phxjobs - Hiring and Looking For Work./r/azpolitics - Political discussion & debate./r/PHXList - For Sale, Housing, Pets, Jobs, etc.Housing/Roomates/For Rent - post in /r/PHXList.Hiring/Looking for Work - post in /r/PHXList.Reddit's Best of Phoenix - Recommended by locals!.Check our Phoenix wiki and past threads for topics that come up often.Local and statewide live chat on Discord!
